I’ve been slammed at work, but I Just wanted to reach out and say thanks for all of your help with the mini truck. It’s been a real workhorse and we really have you to thank for that. Sending a few pics of the truck in action around the wedding venue. You all made the process easy, and I’ve been thankful for your help in guiding me through the process. 						Worked with Matthew, Taylor and Scott to find a particular Daihatsu Hijet to import into Australia. Not only did I find the right vehicle using thier platform, they then helped with procuring upgraded wheels off the Yahoo Japan auction site, sourced some additional spare parts not readily available in Australia and organized for a preshipment service. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of importing a vehicle from Japan should consider the service that they offer it is Blue Ribbon.

						As a first-time importer for personal use, I really appreciated Mathew's @ JCD's patience in answering my questions, walking me through the process, and even explaining the paperwork! My minitruck attracts a lot of attention, so I will send folks your way if they are interested in getting their own! (Side note: if importing into the US, particularly Baltimore, I recommend arranging or planning for a steam-cleaning once it gets in, because US CBP/Dept of Ag will likely require one anyways.)

						Along with many of the customers here, this was my first time importing a vehicle. Originally, I had contacted a local importer who had great reviews in my area. Long story short, the local importer struggled to move quickly and over the course of around 3 months was unable to close the deal with two vehicles I had intended to make strong offers on. Upset with my experience with the local importer and somewhat discouraged with the entire process I decided to part ways and look into working with Japan Car Direct. At first I was hesitant to do business with a company I had never heard of nor was able to meet with in person. However, Matt soon gave me the assurance that I needed. Being my first import, I had a lot of questions and a lot of concerns with the entire process. Matt was consistently responsive and patient with all of my inquiries and confidently led me through the entire process. From understanding how the auction houses operate, the culture of used vehicle resale in Japan including dealership sales vs auctions, advice on what to look for, and honest feedback on which vehicles to stay away from. I was looking for a very specific and rarely available Land Cruiser and Matt worked with me for over 3 months waiting for the right vehicle to appear at auction. I was very diligent and checking every day for a cruiser to become available. Any cruiser I was interested in, Matt would translate the auction sheet for me and give me his opinion of the vehicle. To my relief, a cruiser finally showed up at auction… However, there was less than 12 hours before the auction would take place. Matt was soon in touch with me and calmly walked me through my options, the bidding process, opinions on what I could expect the vehicle to sell for, and any questions I had along the way. Within that small time frame, not only was he prepared to bid on my behalf, he had also arranged a third party inspection with the auction house to get a second opinion of the vehicle’s condition. After winning the bid, Matt sent me a recording of the entire auction with voice commentary - it was an unexpected detail that brought me closer to the process. I am confident that there is no way my original importer could have pulled this off, and I couldn’t have been happier to have worked with Matt and Japan Car Direct. After the auction, there were no hidden fees or extra charges. Everything was clear from the beginning and transparent through the entire process. I was a very demanding client, and I can’t stress enough how professional and patient Matt was with me as a customer thoughout the extended length of time we searched for the right vehicle. In the end I am extremely satisfied with the experience and as nervous as I was starting the process I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JCD to anyone reading this, my family, friends, or do business with them again personally in the future. 						Mathew and the gang were great with helping me with the acquisition of my 1994 Subaru Sambar dump kei truck. I was so excited about getting a truck I was ready to buy just about anything. Matt put the breaks on that and used his experience and knowledge to weed out the potential problems. I use my truck almost daily around our farm moving things and as a work surface. It is great. 						Japan Car Direct has awesome support and always quick in response. Purchased several BMW 330i, BMW 530i, BMW M5, Benz C Class, E Class, AUDI TTS and etc to import into Taiwan. They took care of everything in Japan including export matters as well. It made our importing car business so easy all done through by internet. Wouldn't say it was as easy as purchasing on Amazon, but it sure was great enough for me. They even provided me daily notification of the models I was interested in. This helped me save tons of time from searching every day. Definitely suggest for English native buyers to Japan Car Direct, it would be much much more smoother than other Japanese companies in this business.

						I'm giving Mathew and his crew five stars for excellent service, and for delivering what they promised. I am a first-time importer for a van I will use myself (no resale). Mathew took me through the selection process, helped steer me away from potentially bad deals, and communicated regularly once I had selected my vehicle. He took me through the export process, and recommended Armin at EasyISF to help with the import process. I was able to track my van across the ocean, and Armin helped me work through customs clearance up through the day I picked up my tiny van. Sometimes you have to trust people and this time I picked the correct people to trust; both with my funds being wired to Japan and with trusting that Mathew and his crew had my best interests in mind. 						My experience was so incredible working with Japan Car Direct. It almost didn't feel real, I followed their instructions provided and was in browsing the auction database in no time at all. When I was ready I sent an email and Yoshiro worked with me almost every step of the way. I purchased my car in August and received it in early January due to several holidays over the time and a minor delay with the vehicle (ECM had a leaky capacitor, a shop repaired it and it's been good as new). I 100% suggest these guys any time someone asks about obtaining a vintage JDM car because the service is amazing and as long as you're smart about what you're buying (know how to read the auction repair sheets etc.) the cars are exactly if not better than expected. Thank you again for helping me get into my a dream car of mine.

						Mike helped me with purchasing and importing my first JDM car (JZX100 Chaser). Throughout the entire process, Mike was extremely professional and I really appreciated his availability to answering all my questions/requests. Despite the numerous amount of questions I had (I am an extremely anxious person), responses from JCD were always concise and carried a very professional tone which I particularly appreciated and I think is very representative of working with a Japanese vs US-based company for importing. Initially, I was split between using JCD versus a US-based importer (like The Import Guys). But after considering the material difference in pricing, especially given the JPY FX rate, I thought I'd go with JCD given they are based in Japan and I figured paperwork and communication between them and other local entities in Japan would be easier. Sure enough, no regrets! Everything went extremely smoothly after winning my bid, I was essentially hands off when it came to getting the car out of Japan. The only clarification I'd provide to other potential customers is just recognizing that JCD provides all services up until the car is on the boat, then its on you to coordinate with a customs broker and shipping company to have the car clear US customs and get released. All in all, JCD really handled all the paperwork needed and I couldn't have imagined a more simple importing process. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

						I recently found JCD through an article online about importing vehicles into the US. I sent them an email and Yoshiro was quick to get back. He too was from California which was helpful when it came to registering the vehicle, recommending diesel vehicles. When it came to finding a vehicle, I essentially send Yoshiro the link's to vehicles that I want translated. But he takes it a step further often using his own personal intuition to let me know if we should pass or bid on a vehicle. To be honest I was a little skeptical at first. Buying and shipping a vehicle from another country is a scary project. About two months later we were about to find a 1996 Townace in good condition at a great price...Yoshiro can tell you how difficult I was in finding it. 100% recommend Yoshiro and the guys at Japan Car Direct and am already looking for my 2nd import!

						I was introduced to Japan Car Direct (JCD) through a friend that imported his own Kei truck. Prior to me reaching out to JCD, I researched many other online buyers of JDM cars for many years and came away very disappointed for various reasons: their buyer's fee or fees were ridiculously high; the price of their cars were ridiculously high; they seemed ambivalent about my needs; their English was not strong; the selection of their cars were very limited and/or their stock was full of cars that had been there for months, if not years. Most importantly, I had no confidence they were acting on my behalf. JCD was completely different. Since July of 2016, I have purchased 8 vehicles from JCD. They guided me and advised me as to which cars were solid, roadworthy, and mechanically sound. There were cars that I really really wanted and they advised me numerous times to pass on them because of their condition and I know they were right. 						This was my first time ever buying a car, let alone one from overseas. I was very nervous at first, but the guys at Japan Car Direct are excellent! In particular I dealt with Yoshiro and he provided amazing service and helped me from step 1 all the way until I received the vehicle. If you're unsure about absolutely anything, you can ask them and they'll be more than happy to help you. Yoshiro helped me find an excellent little Audi TT in great condition that I couldn't be more happy about owning! I never would've been able to find a deal like this in my home country. The process is very simple(Refer to their site for a lot more in-depth details on how the process works and a ton of other information): 1. Find a car you like on the auction search engine (can access by simply making an account on their website) 2. Send the auction listing to them and they'll translate the sheet into English for you 3. This step is not mandatory, but you can get an inspection prior to bidding for a insanely good price, I highly recommend. 4. If you still want to bid, let them know your maximum bid. 5. If you win the bid, then just sit back whilst they handle ALL of the next steps for you, they really make it easy! 6. Depending on your country, your import process will be different to clear customs, but Yoshiro even set that entire process up for me! (Note: You're responsible for passing any inspections in order to get insurance in your country, but for me the process was still very simple) It's really as simple as that. All I had to do in the entire process was pick a car I like, and pay for it. You are in good hands with the guys at this company. They'll make sure you get a good car and only one that you'll be happy with. Truly a breath of fresh air when you find that one company that very clearly works for you as the customer to find the absolute best deal for you. I'm definitely going to be looking at buying another vehicle through these guys in the future!

The only point that went differently from his anticipation was the duty tax, which inherently has room for interpretation and may depend on the port of delivery. Would I go to Mathew and JCD again? They were always kind and courteous, and very understanding about the time difference issues between the UK and Japan. They always kept me up-to-date on the status of each step along the journey. 						I was considering importing a vehicle into Canada from Japan for a while and explored a few different companies but ultimately ended up going with JCD because of their exemplary customer service and I was not disappointed with my decision. I sent JCD about 100 emails (no lie, I wanted to be absolutely sure about the process and everything and they answered most of them prior to me committing to buy a car through them) and they responded to every single one of my questions. The purchasing process was easy and I ended up getting a nice little Mercedes for the summer. Even after JCD had finished their business with me and I was working with an importer they recommended (who was also a pleasure to work with) and I had a couple of outstanding questions they again answered me promptly, honestly and, most importantly, knowledgeably. These guys bid in the auction for you and have a mechanic inspect the car (optional for a small fee) so you know exactly what you're getting. The car I got was exactly as described to me, no surprises and had it on the road almost immediately. If you check out a lot of the other japanese exporters who have selection of cars to choose from and check the auction sheets which are often posted it's easy to see that they are trying to sell crappy cars (typically they are rated R for repaired). I cannot recommend JCD enough and I think I'll probably get my next 'daily driver' through them as well. The process was easy, they were knowledgeable and, most importantly, I got a great deal on a car.

						Had a terrific first time experience with Japan Car Direct thanks to Matt Matusiak. Any questions I had, Matt answered promptly and with excellent communication. He walked me through the entire process and kept me in the loop of every move. I purchased a 2003 Suzuki Carry and am very happy with it. Picked it up with zero problems, the broker that Matt suggested I use was top notch. Wouldn’t hesitate to do business again and highly recommend to anyone looking. 5 stars all around! 						After an initial inquiry several years ago, I still wanted to get a Japanese Delica or Hiace. Matthew was immediately in contact and helped with all the details. His videos were perfect for my search. Matthew was able to answer all of my questions and my wife and I were able to make decisions based on the great information he provided. 						I used Japan Car Direct to import my R34 Nissan Skyline, I found Scott and his team extremly helpful though out the entire process from the get go... I had always wanted to own an R34 GTR it had been a dream car for me to own ever since I at school. I had always toyed with the idea of Importing a vehicle myself but was always dubious about the process... many companies didn't really want to help or we plain how the process works which wasn't very comforting... until i made contact with Scott @ JCD... He was happy to answer all my questions and querys with swift honest answers.. . And made the whole process extremly hassle free and no put my mind at rest of any worries I had. I can not recommend Scott and his team enough.. they helped me source, purchase and ship my dream car to the UK and I was extremly please with the car I purchased it was far better than I could have expected and was 'as described' I would 100% used JCD again and have already passed my information on to a number of people with regards to the whole process.. so once again Thank you Scott and the JCD I expect to be using your good selves aging in the future =)

						Japan Car Direct review TLDR: These guys are great to work with and 100% trustworthy. If you are going to import a vehicle, you aren’t going to find better people to manage the process. Importing a car is a gearhead rite of passage into the upper echelon of status and street cred. Spoken of in hushed tones in closely gathered circles almost always in terms of “someday.” It always seemed like dating a move star to me; I knew it was technically a thing. But the in-roads to achieve it were shrouded in darkness and mystery. Besides, even if you managed to sneak into the smoky back room where the action happened, what then? What you need is a Obi-Wan. A wise guide with the patina of years and experience under their belt - funky robe and weird smells optional. Enter Japan Car Direct. I was admittedly nervous. I had spent days reading reviews and references. I contacted several companies in speed-dating fashion hoping to find someone to put my nervous mind at ease. With what I am sure was an annoying number of emails, it seemed clear to me Japan Car Direct was the smartest route. Their reputation seemed solid and they handled my naive, kid-with-an-inhaler-and-too-much-emotional-investment-in-an-obscure-SiFi-storyline obsessive questions with grace and patience. They walked me through the process. Broke down the completely reasonable charges into terms even I could manage, and took the time to expediently respond to my flurry of electronic “But, what about”s. When things got serious, they treated me like more of a friend they were doing a solid than a client. I would message them daily about cars I found on the auction listing I thought would scratch my strange itch. They always responded quickly with honest opinions and information. I had sent my deposit. They had my money. It would have been in their financial interest to get me out of the virtual door with the first car I was panting about and move on to the next client. But, they didn’t do that at all. They actually talked me out of 4-5 vehicles before we found one that fit the bill and they felt was a good option. Then, for less than I’ve spent on a single Starbucks run, then had someone go and put hands on the vehicle. Check it out, start it, fiddle with things and make sure it was a good bet. I received a optimistic, but reserved assessment. Which I jumped on like a high schooler on a prom date. I wired money. I screwed it up (research what is actual takes to send significant amounts of money overseas before you try, btw. It isn’t hard, but I really wish I thought of that part before. It was a bit of a mad dash because I was a newbie and totally clueless.) They were very understanding about the whole thing. They made arrangements, got the car to and on the boat. Managed strange and exotic paperwork that I had no clue existed. It all felt very Bourgeois. Like I had people in other countries managing my affairs. The vehicle magically arrived and it was so much better than I expected. Their standards exceeded mine. Honestly, after purchasing and having a vehicle imported with Japan Car Direct, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. It is much easier than I expected and less expensive than I assumed. They are fantastic to work with and the entire experience was great.

						Just awesome people to deal with... I started my search for a JZA80 Supra 2 years ago by just looking on JCD because I was really scared that I would go into it with the money I had, and be overwhelmed by fees and other costs, I even made a spreadsheet with every cost listed on JCD’s website. And it turns out, that feeling I was scared of never came. Mathew at JCD is a gem, he helped me from my viewing days all the way to the end, translating and giving great advice on what the steps are, making everything crystal clear and easily digestible. All of my questions, and misunderstandings were dealt with with kindness and professionalism. Patience is a virtue that JCD (and from my experience Mathew) have in droves. Knowing how worried I was, Mathew's help was the reason I managed to stay sane through my first large purchase and my first vehicle import. Even up to the time when the car was out of Japan and en route to Canada, Mathew put me on to Al Thompson who was ALSO phenomenal to work with, he fought for me with the docks who have slowed down due to covid, and we got my Supra released in jig time! Thanks to Mathew, JCD, and Al for the phenomenal service, and I hope to work with you all again in the future!

						Japan Car Direct is legit, and I absolutely would come back again to JCD to import another vehicle from Japan! Mason has been patient, responsive, and friendly as to put other importing companies to shame. He always responded to my emails within 1 business day, and always gave advance warning when he would not be available. The auction purchase and importing processes were transparent and completely logical. Their professionalism is second to none and I strongly recommend anyone on the fence to trust this company with your time and money. They're true car guys through and through.

						Patient, professional, prompt, helpful and honest. My experience dealing with Matthew from JCD was nothing but positive. Matthew took the time to explain to me over various emails how to go through the entire process. He replied very promptly and honestly and we even had nice friendly chats along the way. I imagine like many others like I was will eventually be in the position of "shit I actually won that car!" and you have to transfer lots of money to a man in Japan. I felt quite a bit of trepidation at that moment, I can assure you there is nothing to worry about. Communication was completely clear all along the way, car logs, shipping information. The car arrived exactly as described. Perfect running condition, 4.5b feels the correct assessment and I am very happy! I will also add that if you are importing to the Netherlands for the 1st time, I have suggested to Matthew that I can provide information on to the finer details as to what needs to be done and the cost EU side. My only other advice for the auctions is to be patient and stick to your budget and you will be happy! Thank you Matthew and the JCD team

						I had an excellent experience working with Matthew at Japan Car Direct. I was a first time auction buyer and importer to the United States. Mathew walked me through every step and pointed me to all the right resources both online and here in the United States to complete the import process successfully. Communication wise prompt and helpful, as well as convenient. his insight into the auction process including the vehicle inspection was especially helpful. I ultimately ended up with exactly what I was looking for within budget. I would work with Japan Car Direct again and recommend them to anyone.
