In 1986, the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) disestablished the super popular Group B class after a series of major accidents at its races caused injuries and fatalities to drivers and spectators, including driver Henri Toivonen driving a Lancia Delta. For the 1987 season, Lancia and other manufacturers were forced to compete with Group A cars. Lancia decided that they would enter their trusty Lancia Delta HF 4WD and easily won the 1987 championship which increased sales in their home market and increased their name recognition abroad. Their subsequent victories in the next 5 World Rally Championships with the Lancia Delta HF made the vehicle legendary among sports car enthusiasts.
Lancia withdrew from rallying after they failed to win their 7th championship in 1993. However, Lancia’s final tally in the 7 years they competed include: 4 drivers titles from 1987-89 and in 1991 by their drivers, and 6 consecutive manufacturers championships from 1987-1992, which still remains a world record for the sport.
Lancia, eager to capitalize on the success of their rally cars, not only sold base model Deltas, but created some limited edition models to commemorate their rally wins. Among those were the 1992 Lancia Delta Intergrale Martini 5 of which only 400 units were produced to commemorate their 5th consecutive World Rally Championship, and the 1993 Lancia Delta Intergrale Martini 6 of which only 310 units were produced to commemorate their 6th consecutive World Rally Championship.
As the lifespan of the Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione came to a close, Lancia decided they would release one final limited edition series only available in Japan, where the vehicle was massively popular through its run: the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II Collezione Final Edition.
The Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II Collezione Final Edition of which only 250 units were produced, were based on the highest trim level Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II but also came with: 16” gunmetal color wheels, carbon fiber accents, silver gauge trim, pushbutton starter, alcantara wrapped recaro seats, and was only available in Bordeaux Red with Yellow and Blue strips. Each final edition model also carried a stamped number plate, placed next to the shifter, which proved its limited edition status. Aside from the cosmetic differences, the Final Edition model was mechanically identical to the Evo II and carried the same powerful 215PS (314Nm) turbo engine and drivetrain as its non-limited edition cousin.
This specific Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II Collezione Final Edition, number 218 of 250, was sourced from a used car dealer in Japan and is totally stock except for the aftermarket stereo.
