						I purchased a JDM 2008 Toyota Prius through Japan Car Direct last year. The export agent, Mason, was easy to work with and made the process predictable and straight forward, so there were no surprises or hidden costs with the car itself and with logistics. The logistics supplier that Mason referred to in Vancouver to import the car into Canada was also very helpful and made the process stress free. Mason went above and beyond just facilitating the transaction and sourced new tires, rims, and accessories for the car that the car needed or that didn't come with the car. This was a big help as these parts and accessories for a 2008 Prius were either unavailable in Canada or would have cost an arm and a leg to purchase through a dealership. I was amazed at how good condition the car was in when it arrived. I picked it up in Vancouver and, right off the boat, drove it over 4000km straight to Ontario to get it home without any mechanical issues along the way.

						I hunted the internet for a broker I could trust with my money. JDC won and I am so happy I went with them. Matt and Yoshi are great. Matt puts up with a very demanding customer in me, I can certainly take up time. Matt sends me cars from the list I sent him, when I don't have time to check the auction. It is scary how accurate Matt is when I ask him to predict a selling price. He is always very close which sometimes is not fun but he really does know pricing. They have walked we through buying two cars now and have held my hand on both. I really apricate all the time and knowledge. 						I was daunted by the prospect of purchasing a vehicle overseas. Mathew was right there to offer direction and assurance along the way. He was quick to respond and most importantly, his word was good. Everything came to pass as he advised. The only point that went differently from his anticipation was the duty tax, which inherently has room for interpretation and may depend on the port of delivery. Would I go to Mathew and JCD again? Absolutely! With his help I obtained a suzuki carry with 8k miles, 4wd hi/lo w/ diff lock, in excellent condition, for a total of 5k from auction to driveway--tremendous value in my estimation. 						FIRST TIME BUYER Update first car got here and process was painless, yoshi put me in touch with local importer to make sure all paper work was in order and I would have no issues at pick up, Wich I did not…can not say enough good thing about yoshi and the group at Japan car direct…Also I paid a little extra and had a bunch of service done in Japan where the parts and labor was way cheaper then here in the states…car runs great and I am super satisfied First post: So…. I have just ordered my second car from Yoshiro Nakajima at Japan Car Direct. Keep in mind my first car has only just gotten to the port, I think that alone speaks volumes. So far it has been an awesome and painless experience. I did not go the advised route of auctions. Not because I could not have save a bunch of money but because I have no patience. Not only was Yoshi understanding and responsive to my constant questions, He accommodated nearly all of my requests(some were just crazy I admit). Even so we found a car at a local to Japan used car dealer and he helped me obtain the car, get it fully serviced and delivered to the port. I will update this review once the car is here and I can let you know how smooth the import process was and how my paperwork came. Trust, I have full faith in Yoshi, and Japan Car Direct that this will go painlessly as well. I will do a follow up review so people can get a full review of all process points. One last thing I want to add is that my budget was extremely low and he never made me feel it was not important or a priority for him. He never made me feel like this was a petty or small job. I feel this too speaks volumes about character. Thus far nothing but five stars.

						I used Japan Car Direct to bid and win a Daihatsu HiJet Cargo. Mason was my point of contact and was brilliant in guiding me through the process, detailing how to make the initial deposit to allow bidding, detailing the auction costs and shipping costs, so that I could work out a budget. The platform for searching vehicles that are coming to auction was easy to use, and Mason was very helpful in explaining all the vehicle description codes and provided a really useful review for individual vehicles that I short listed, and then arranged for the vehicle to be independently inspected prior to bidding. Payment on my winning vehicle was straight forward by BACs to Japan Car Direct and then Mason took care of arranging shipping, and sending through the bill of lading and other documents. Once the vehicle arrived at the JCD yard I received very comprehensive photos. Shipping took about 7 weeks from Japan to Newcastle in the UK, and the vehicle arrived safely in perfect condition. I used RJJ Freight for customs clearance, which made the process of getting the vehicle into the UK stress free.

						Mike helped me with purchasing and importing my first JDM car (JZX100 Chaser). Throughout the entire process, Mike was extremely professional and I really appreciated his availability to answering all my questions/requests. Despite the numerous amount of questions I had (I am an extremely anxious person), responses from JCD were always concise and carried a very professional tone which I particularly appreciated and I think is very representative of working with a Japanese vs US-based company for importing. Initially, I was split between using JCD versus a US-based importer (like The Import Guys). But after considering the material difference in pricing, especially given the JPY FX rate, I thought I'd go with JCD given they are based in Japan and I figured paperwork and communication between them and other local entities in Japan would be easier. Sure enough, no regrets! Everything went extremely smoothly after winning my bid, I was essentially hands off when it came to getting the car out of Japan. The only clarification I'd provide to other potential customers is just recognizing that JCD provides all services up until the car is on the boat, then its on you to coordinate with a customs broker and shipping company to have the car clear US customs and get released. All in all, JCD really handled all the paperwork needed and I couldn't have imagined a more simple importing process. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

						Just awesome people to deal with... I started my search for a JZA80 Supra 2 years ago by just looking on JCD because I was really scared that I would go into it with the money I had, and be overwhelmed by fees and other costs, I even made a spreadsheet with every cost listed on JCD’s website. And it turns out, that feeling I was scared of never came. Mathew at JCD is a gem, he helped me from my viewing days all the way to the end, translating and giving great advice on what the steps are, making everything crystal clear and easily digestible. All of my questions, and misunderstandings were dealt with with kindness and professionalism. Patience is a virtue that JCD (and from my experience Mathew) have in droves. Knowing how worried I was, Mathew's help was the reason I managed to stay sane through my first large purchase and my first vehicle import. Even up to the time when the car was out of Japan and en route to Canada, Mathew put me on to Al Thompson who was ALSO phenomenal to work with, he fought for me with the docks who have slowed down due to covid, and we got my Supra released in jig time! 						Just drove my Japanese market 1991 Mercedes 300d to work for first time. Picked up from the dock last week and the car started right up. It runs quiet, is clean and was obviously well taken care of. I checked blowby via oil filter cap, and the compression seems very good for this diesel. Scott made the process of sorting through and deciding on this car easy and enjoyable. He helped steer me away from what might have been some poorer choices (check the auction sheets!) and we finally found the right car. If looking for a quality used car, the Japanese domestic market has superior stock to choose from (the Mercedes I got, like many European cars there is even LHD). Scott is the guy to get you in to that market - very easy to talk to and quick in responding to queries.

						I asked Japan Car Direct to sell my old Rav4J just before I left Japan in September. Got almost $2,000 total for it, which was amazing. In Japan, there is ZERO resale value for cars. In fact, when I "sold" my old Eunos Roadster (Miyata) to a resale place, the said they were being generous giving me $50 for it. 						I'd been looking to buy an RF series Honda Stepwagon to convert into a mini camper for a while but the UK prices always seemed too high. I had joined a few JDM import sites to get an idea of auction prices and costs (including Japan Car Direct) but just couldn't bring myself to take the next step, it seemed such a risk ! Finally after reading so many good reviews for JCD (and Mathew in particular) I took the plunge and contacted Mathew. After he answered my many questions regarding costs, fees etc I felt confident enough to pay the deposit and start hunting the Japanese auctions for my Steppy. My budget for the Steppy was pretty low (pathetic even !) but I felt Mat still put the same effort into replying to my questions and queries as he would have done if my budget had been into the tens of thousands. The result was I now have a very tidy Stepwagon with lower mileage than any vehicle I've ever owned, I've paid far less for it then I would have done buying in the UK and I've got a bigger budget now for the camper conversion. I wouldn't hesitate to buy through them again, and hope to do so soon.

						I first stumbled upon Japan Car Direct LLC through their Facebook page and on their website. I plan on writing a full review once my car arrives, but at the current moment I wish I could give them more than a 5/5. First, their website is extremely professional and has all of the information that you could ask for. The coolest part about the entire process is getting access to the auction house by registering with them. You can then see (and get translations) for the cars of your choice! Mathew and Scott providing AMAZING customer service. This being my first time, they answered more than 50 e-mails of my questions, and were always very professional. They did not pressure me to purchase a car either, rather, I gave them my specifications and they worked with me to find the vehicle of my choice. I believe their service charge is more than fair considering they do the bulk of the work for you. No matter what time of day, it seemed like Mat and Scott were there to help! In addition to cars, they can help you find parts, which I will need some for my car! While we did run into some minor issues (like my delaying of payment since they are international, and some [dealer - not Japan Car Direct] translation issues with the dealer we bought the car from), Mat and Scott quickly worked to resolve them. Overall, they are great guys, and I will purchase again from them again. If only they could invent a hoverboard to make the car arrive faster :)

This was my first foreign import and I was impressed with how communicative and efficient the team was. Yoshiro was very helpful in guiding me through the process and being patient with me throughout.The only thing I would mention is that have the spare key couriered separately as one of my key fobs went missing during shipment. Cost me a bit to replace and reprogram; but not the end of the world. 						After doing a bit of research I settled on using JCD to bid at the Japanese auctions for me and to facilitate the import of my dream car into Australia. Whenever I saw a car of interest, Mason would normally reply within an hour with a short video translating the Japanese auction sheet and additional info he had. They also organised additional inspections and photos at your request before you bid. Once I placed a winning bid, they used a partner shipping company (Dolphin shipping) and transferred all the info to them. From there the shipping company had a few extra questions and shipped my car and sent me an invoice for their services just before the car landed in AUS. These guys are very accessible, friendly and do a great job. Highly recommend. Thanks Mason for a job well done!

						Mathew and the fine folks of JCD were pros and I couldn't be happier with my Honda Acty Street. Shipping was easy to follow, they laid out exactly how to go about picking up my van from customs and getting it home was a breeze. Been driving it for a few months now and still purring away. It's scary buying a vehicle sight unseen but they are willing to double check everything before you even put your bid in. The right hand drive is rad and my little baby Racoon gets quite a bit of attention. The only thing to make sure of is check your state laws. Some states are trying to pull Kei trucks and vans off the road. But that is no bearing on JCD. Everything on their end was silky smooth. Would love to buy another couple and have a whole fleet! Even came with original manuals and some artwork from the previous owner's children! Can't put into words how happy I am! JCD rules!

						The entire team at Japan Car Direct looked after everything for me. From buying my target car at auction to selling my current car at auction with delivery, paperwork and admin in between sales all included. I live in Japan so this is a review of the process from within the country (not for export). Having said this, the high quality of car and service received won't be different no matter where you are buying from. At first Matt educated me on Land Cruisers as that was my target car. This was very helpful. Next he helped me select a car. Our primary communication was done via social media (we mostly used Whatsapp but also were connected via Facebook Messenger and LINE). We looked at a fair amount of cars. Matt would send me a list almost daily of upcoming cars. He was especially patient with me as I was rather pedantic about everything and asked many questions. Matt always responded within an hour. It is also worth noting that even though my Japanese language ability is advanced, it was comforting having Matt's Japanese language fluency on hand when questions needed to be relayed on my behalf. It made our communication much more efficient. Within a couple of weeks we eventually found a car that fit my target but actually missed out on the auction, not because we were outbid (although there were other bidders) but because the seller had a fixed (minimum) price set. After the auction Matt relayed the fixed price the seller wanted. I waited a few days to think about it then asked if the car was still available, and it was. At this point Matt offered to hire a private inspector/specialist to check the car on site on my behalf. This was 3000yen well spent as the inspector gave a thorough check of the car. I recommend anyone considering buying a car via auction to have an expert check it out first. It was tremendously valuable and reassuring. At this point, all that was left to do was agree to buy the car and send the money. All the paperwork and delivery of the car (directly to my home!) was organized by Matt and the Japan Car Direct team. It was a very easy process. To top it off, Matt and the Japan Car Direct team went above and beyond by agreeing to help me sell my old car. They arranged to have it picked up from my home on the day my new car arrived, and took it to auction to sell it on my behalf. My car sold on the first auction day for much more than I was hoping for. Once again, all of the paperwork, delivery of the car etc was taken care of by Matt and the team. I have bought cars and motorcycles in Japan via auction in the past. While the product I buy has always been good, the service not always so. The entire process can be a nerve wracking experience, not only because of fear of buying a bad car but because of all the paperwork and bureaucracy involved. Japan Car Direct took the stress out of buying at auction and made it a friendly, fun experience. The service was prompt and professional - always. I love the car I purchased but since the process was so easy I will certainly be back for more in the future. Japan Cars Direct is THE way to go for buying cars at auction in Japan. I can’t recommend them enough. I was initially introduced to Matthew Matusiak of Japan Car Direct via a mutual acquaintance for the purpose of buying a car, however, I am pleased to now call Matt my friend and look forward to continued hockey chatter throughout the year.

						Awesome experience working with the guys at Japan Car Direct, I was looking to find a specific spec J90 Land Cruiser Prado (2 door, black, low milage) and managed to locate one at a used car dealer in Japan. Mason helped every step of the way to coordinate with the dealer, make the deal, transport the car to the port, coordinate with the port staff to store the Prado till it turned 25 years on the month (had to sit at the port a couple months), and then finally have the Prado cleaned before it was loaded on the boat. Lots of pictures always accompanied updates and any questions I had were answered with no problems. Everything was super easy and zero stress.
