						Mathew and the fine folks of JCD were pros and I couldn't be happier with my Honda Acty Street. Shipping was easy to follow, they laid out exactly how to go about picking up my van from customs and getting it home was a breeze. Been driving it for a few months now and still purring away. It's scary buying a vehicle sight unseen but they are willing to double check everything before you even put your bid in. The right hand drive is rad and my little baby Racoon gets quite a bit of attention. The only thing to make sure of is check your state laws. Some states are trying to pull Kei trucks and vans off the road. But that is no bearing on JCD. Everything on their end was silky smooth. Would love to buy another couple and have a whole fleet! Even came with original manuals and some artwork from the previous owner's children! Can't put into words how happy I am! JCD rules!

						Awesome experience working with the guys at Japan Car Direct, I was looking to find a specific spec J90 Land Cruiser Prado (2 door, black, low milage) and managed to locate one at a used car dealer in Japan. Mason helped every step of the way to coordinate with the dealer, make the deal, transport the car to the port, coordinate with the port staff to store the Prado till it turned 25 years on the month (had to sit at the port a couple months), and then finally have the Prado cleaned before it was loaded on the boat. Lots of pictures always accompanied updates and any questions I had were answered with no problems. Everything was super easy and zero stress. Definitely will be using these guys again in the future!

						This is as good as no-sight car buying can get and I 100% recommend using these guys. Take your time, work with them, and you'll get exactly what you want. I was in the market for a Skyline and told Yoshiro what I was looking for ('98 or older, RWD, no rust, no accidents). He asked a few questions to gauge how much I cared about different aspects. I sent them the deposit and got started. From there I used their auction database to find cars I was interested in and I spent about a month looking at different auctions. Many times Yoshiro would discover something about the car I wouldn't have caught that made it a no-go, and his honesty probably saved me from a few lemons. Eventually this R34 closed without meeting reserve, and Yoshiro guided me through the negotiations process (which I was completely unfamiliar with). You only need 1 bank transfer to pay the rest of the fees which simplifies things. After that was done he got the car moved to the shipping yard. This was during peak covid, so of course there were tons of delays getting it onto a ship. Yoshiro provided regular updates, and once it was loaded he immediately sent me all the relevant documents and helped me find a broker to transport it from the port to my house. I'm extremely happy with the car and am super grateful that I had the help I did from the JCD guys to get it. It was honestly way simpler and easier than I thought it was going to be, and I almost prefer it to buying from dealerships!

						I was introduced to Japan Car Direct (JCD) through a friend that imported his own Kei truck. Prior to me reaching out to JCD, I researched many other online buyers of JDM cars for many years and came away very disappointed for various reasons: their buyer's fee or fees were ridiculously high; the price of their cars were ridiculously high; they seemed ambivalent about my needs; their English was not strong; the selection of their cars were very limited and/or their stock was full of cars that had been there for months, if not years. Most importantly, I had no confidence they were acting on my behalf. JCD was completely different. Since July of 2016, I have purchased 8 vehicles from JCD. They guided me and advised me as to which cars were solid, roadworthy, and mechanically sound. There were cars that I really really wanted and they advised me numerous times to pass on them because of their condition and I know they were right. 						Since a kid the FD RX7 has always been a dream car but i didn't pursue it till i graduated high school but the prices just for the shell over here in california was over 15k!! I kept looking around until I decided i would just import one. I found JCD while looking for the top 5 importers you could trust and they stood out more than all the other ones, and for a couple months of more research on their page until I ultimately decided I would go through them. Although this was my first time getting a car from Japan and having an endless amount questions spanning a couple hundred emails until it would freeze up and i had to make a new email thread .. Mathew always answered every question and helped me though every step. I didn't have all the funds in the beginning but they were very patient with it until i was fully ready, then after a month of having Matt give his thought on some of the FDs i was looking at we finally won the auction for a 94 Efini type R Fd3s. As we picked it up from Long Beach till the drive home I couldn't believe that it was here and soo much better just looking at the picture but i defiantly would recommend JCD to anyone looking to import their dream car too and and want to thank matt and the whole team with getting me my RX7.

						I was considering importing a vehicle into Canada from Japan for a while and explored a few different companies but ultimately ended up going with JCD because of their exemplary customer service and I was not disappointed with my decision. I sent JCD about 100 emails (no lie, I wanted to be absolutely sure about the process and everything and they answered most of them prior to me committing to buy a car through them) and they responded to every single one of my questions. The purchasing process was easy and I ended up getting a nice little Mercedes for the summer. Even after JCD had finished their business with me and I was working with an importer they recommended (who was also a pleasure to work with) and I had a couple of outstanding questions they again answered me promptly, honestly and, most importantly, knowledgeably. These guys bid in the auction for you and have a mechanic inspect the car (optional for a small fee) so you know exactly what you're getting. The car I got was exactly as described to me, no surprises and had it on the road almost immediately. If you check out a lot of the other japanese exporters who have selection of cars to choose from and check the auction sheets which are often posted it's easy to see that they are trying to sell crappy cars (typically they are rated R for repaired). I cannot recommend JCD enough and I think I'll probably get my next 'daily driver' through them as well. The process was easy, they were knowledgeable and, most importantly, I got a great deal on a car.

Selecting the car was a much more pleasant and interactive experience and I felt much more confident in my purchase that I had before. 						Mike helped me with purchasing and importing my first JDM car (JZX100 Chaser). Throughout the entire process, Mike was extremely professional and I really appreciated his availability to answering all my questions/requests. Despite the numerous amount of questions I had (I am an extremely anxious person), responses from JCD were always concise and carried a very professional tone which I particularly appreciated and I think is very representative of working with a Japanese vs US-based company for importing. Initially, I was split between using JCD versus a US-based importer (like The Import Guys). But after considering the material difference in pricing, especially given the JPY FX rate, I thought I'd go with JCD given they are based in Japan and I figured paperwork and communication between them and other local entities in Japan would be easier. Sure enough, no regrets! Everything went extremely smoothly after winning my bid, I was essentially hands off when it came to getting the car out of Japan. The only clarification I'd provide to other potential customers is just recognizing that JCD provides all services up until the car is on the boat, then its on you to coordinate with a customs broker and shipping company to have the car clear US customs and get released. All in all, JCD really handled all the paperwork needed and I couldn't have imagined a more simple importing process. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

I already owned a kei truck when I found JCD but was looking for an honest and reliable way to source new and used OEM parts from Japan. Scott and JCD was the way to go! 						We had been looking for a Toyota AE86 for many years, and in late 2022, decided to take the plunge and purchase from Japan a fabulous red over black example. After scoping out a number of agents/importers based in Japan, we settled on Japan Car Direct, and we're very happy that we did! We quickly found that communications with Matt and the Japan Car Direct team were always prompt, insightful and respectful, giving us a feeling of trust in the company. At our request Matt organised a mechanical and general inspection of the car, which was located a few hours north-east of Tokyo. Whilst the mechanic was looking at the car, we were able to do a video call through Matt so we could see the AE86 for ourselves and ask questions of the selling agent live - all beautifully translated by Matt. This gave us a digital first-hand viewing of the car, and was key to us making our final decision to purchase. The subsequent transaction for the purchase itself was a smooth and stress-free operation as we were guided through the process by Japan Car Direct. The entire process, from first communication, to the inspection, the transaction, the shipping process, and to when the car arrived - was all incredibly smooth and trouble-free. As a result of all this good service, we now have a wonderful JDM Toyota AE86 here in Australia. 						My experience with Japan Car Direct was flawless. From finding the right vehicle to payment and delivery, everything was a breeze. This was my first foreign import and I was impressed with how communicative and efficient the team was. Yoshiro was very helpful in guiding me through the process and being patient with me throughout.The only thing I would mention is that have the spare key couriered separately as one of my key fobs went missing during shipment. 						After doing a bit of research I settled on using JCD to bid at the Japanese auctions for me and to facilitate the import of my dream car into Australia. Whenever I saw a car of interest, Mason would normally reply within an hour with a short video translating the Japanese auction sheet and additional info he had. They also organised additional inspections and photos at your request before you bid. Once I placed a winning bid, they used a partner shipping company (Dolphin shipping) and transferred all the info to them. From there the shipping company had a few extra questions and shipped my car and sent me an invoice for their services just before the car landed in AUS. These guys are very accessible, friendly and do a great job. Highly recommend. Thanks Mason for a job well done!

						Japan Car Direct review TLDR: These guys are great to work with and 100% trustworthy. If you are going to import a vehicle, you aren’t going to find better people to manage the process. Importing a car is a gearhead rite of passage into the upper echelon of status and street cred. Spoken of in hushed tones in closely gathered circles almost always in terms of “someday.” It always seemed like dating a move star to me; I knew it was technically a thing. But the in-roads to achieve it were shrouded in darkness and mystery. Besides, even if you managed to sneak into the smoky back room where the action happened, what then? What you need is a Obi-Wan. A wise guide with the patina of years and experience under their belt - funky robe and weird smells optional. Enter Japan Car Direct. I was admittedly nervous. I had spent days reading reviews and references. I contacted several companies in speed-dating fashion hoping to find someone to put my nervous mind at ease. With what I am sure was an annoying number of emails, it seemed clear to me Japan Car Direct was the smartest route. Their reputation seemed solid and they handled my naive, kid-with-an-inhaler-and-too-much-emotional-investment-in-an-obscure-SiFi-storyline obsessive questions with grace and patience. They walked me through the process. Broke down the completely reasonable charges into terms even I could manage, and took the time to expediently respond to my flurry of electronic “But, what about”s. When things got serious, they treated me like more of a friend they were doing a solid than a client. I would message them daily about cars I found on the auction listing I thought would scratch my strange itch. They always responded quickly with honest opinions and information. I had sent my deposit. They had my money. It would have been in their financial interest to get me out of the virtual door with the first car I was panting about and move on to the next client. But, they didn’t do that at all. They actually talked me out of 4-5 vehicles before we found one that fit the bill and they felt was a good option. Then, for less than I’ve spent on a single Starbucks run, then had someone go and put hands on the vehicle. Check it out, start it, fiddle with things and make sure it was a good bet. I received a optimistic, but reserved assessment. Which I jumped on like a high schooler on a prom date. I wired money. I screwed it up (research what is actual takes to send significant amounts of money overseas before you try, btw. It isn’t hard, but I really wish I thought of that part before. It was a bit of a mad dash because I was a newbie and totally clueless.) They were very understanding about the whole thing. They made arrangements, got the car to and on the boat. Managed strange and exotic paperwork that I had no clue existed. It all felt very Bourgeois. Like I had people in other countries managing my affairs. The vehicle magically arrived and it was so much better than I expected. Their standards exceeded mine. Honestly, after purchasing and having a vehicle imported with Japan Car Direct, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. It is much easier than I expected and less expensive than I assumed. They are fantastic to work with and the entire experience was great.

						Ever since my first trip to Japan in 2016, I have wanted a kei vehicle. I was finally in a position to get one this year, but I didn't know where to start. After doing a lot of research and talking to a few folks who had done it before, I decided to use Japan Car Direct. The primary reason I chose JCD was that I kept hearing them described as "helpful" and "trustworthy". I think these two qualities are important, but particularly for a first time importer like myself. After all, I was going to be sending thousands of dollars halfway across the world for a vehicle I'd never seen, so I wanted someone I could trust and who would help me through the process. Yoshiro absolutely delivered on both counts for Japan Car Direct. From the first e-mail he was very responsive, took time to answer all my questions, and helped guide me to the right truck. The JCD team is great and I can't recommend them enough. I'm sure I will be doing business with them again when I'm ready for my next Japanese car! As for the vehicle, I snagged a very clean 1994 Acty SDX that showed up in even better condition than I expected. I just picked it up from the port the other day, I'll update with photos once I get it cleaned up!
